The modular shelters built for the early arrival and the survival shelters/tents are only meant to be temporary. People will need to start thinking of housing unless they wish to spend another winter in a survival shelter. When fikgirl mentioned in an IM that Gamma Two and Three were logging and maybe mining outposts, it occurred to me that the colonists are probably already mining one mineral: salt. It's relatively easy to mine, requires little refinement, and is a major dietary requirement.
